"EEG" is an abbreviation for electroencephalogram. The test involves gluing or pasting small metal cups called electrodes to your scalp to record and monitor brain waves. The test is painless. Your brainwaves are monitored while you are awake or asleep.

The test will take about 1½ to 2 hours.

Please follow these Instructions to obtain the best test results:

  1. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time.
  2. Please wake up at least two hours before your scheduled test time.
  3. Please do not consume any caffeine the morning of the test.
  4. Please eat a full meal before coming to the EEG Lab.
  5. Please come to the test with clean, dry hair. Please do not use hair gels, hairsprays, or lotions in you hair. If you have hair extensions, pieces or wigs; please make sure they are easy to remove.
  6. Please wear comfortable clothes. During the test you will be lying on a bed in the EEG lab.
