Dr. Vishad Kumar, M.D.
Dr. Kumar earned a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.), a Medical Doctorate in Internal Medicine, and a Doctorate in Neurology from King Georges Medical College at Lucknow University in India. He served in several internships including one for Internal Medicine and one for Neurology at King Georges Medical College. Dr. Kumar completed a three year residency in Neurology at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. He then joined Wesley Neurology Clinic and is currently one of the six world-class Neurologists on staff.
Dr. Kumar has worked as junior research fellow for the Department of Neurology and Psychiatry at Vanderbilt University. Some of his research projects include work on Epilepsy, Thrombotic Stroke, Chronic Renal failure, movement disorders, and Parkinsons Disease. In addition to his research experience, Dr. Kumar has extensive teaching experience in Internal Medicine and Neurology including a current teaching position with the University of Tennessee in Memphis instructing medical students and neurology residents at Methodist University Hospital.
The American Academy of Neurology, American Medical Association, Tennessee Medical Association and the Tennessee Academy of Neurology count Dr. Kumar as a member. He was recognized in 2004 as one of Americas Top Physicians, and has also been awarded the Dr. C. Mani Gold Medal in Social and Preventive Medicine for outstanding rural health service.
